Price list builder

Apply one markup policy to a whole list of SKUs at once, and get a price list to copy or download.

Free, no accountIn your browser

One per line: a name, a comma, then what it costs you in US dollars. A SKU with no cost yet can be entered as 0.

One policy, applied to every SKU above - the same markup math as the markup vs margin calculator, run once per row.

Nothing to price yet

Paste your SKUs and their cost, and a price list is built as you type.

What this is

This price list builder takes a list of SKUs and what each one costs you, runs one markup policy across every row, and gives back a price list ready to copy or download as a CSV - the same markup math as the markup vs margin calculator, run once per SKU instead of once per sale.

A price list here is the markup formula - price equals cost plus cost times the markup percentage - run once for every SKU pasted in, all against the one markup chosen. Each row keeps its own cost; only the markup is shared across the whole list.

A SKU with no cost yet is still a row in the list, priced at $0.00 regardless of the markup - multiplying nothing by any percentage is still nothing, which is worth seeing on screen rather than silently dropping the row.

How to read the result

The facts row gives the totals: how many SKUs were priced, the markup applied to all of them, and the cost and price summed across the whole list.

The table below lists every SKU with its own cost, the price that markup produces, and the margin that price actually leaves - downloadable as the same CSV it shows on screen, ready to paste straight into a spreadsheet or a storefront import.

Common mistakes

What goes wrong most often, and how to tell.

  • Expecting tax or currency conversionThis builder knows neither. Every cost and price is a plain number in whatever unit it was typed in, with no sales tax, VAT or exchange rate applied anywhere - add those separately before quoting a customer.
  • Leaving a SKU priced at zero and assuming it was skippedA line with no cost is still priced, at $0.00, rather than left out of the list - a zero-cost row still appears in the table and in the CSV, which is the only honest way to show that nothing was entered for it.
  • Reusing one markup across SKUs that do not share one margin targetA single markup percentage is a policy, not a law of the business - a SKU with thin margins elsewhere in the catalogue may need a markup of its own rather than the one applied to everything else here.

Questions

What people ask about this tool.

  • Yes - paste one SKU per line, each as a name, a comma, and its cost, and every line is priced against the one markup percentage entered, all at once, as you type.
  • No. Every cost and price here is a plain number in whatever unit was typed, with no sales tax, VAT or currency conversion applied anywhere on the page - add those separately for a real quote.
  • It still appears in the price list, priced at $0.00: a markup of any percentage applied to a cost of nothing is still nothing, so the row is shown rather than silently dropped from the list or the CSV.
  • Not on this page - one markup policy is applied to every SKU in the list, which is the point of building a list this way. A SKU that genuinely needs its own markup is better priced on its own with the markup vs margin calculator.
